DistribuStream is a fully open peercasting system — allowing on-demand or live streaming media to be delivered at a fraction of the normal cost. It was developed by medioh! and the University of Colorado Computer Science Program.

Check the Getting Started page for information on setting up a DistribuStream server.

Status

DistribuStream 0.5.1 is the latest release. It brings with it improvements in the traffic routing algorithm and proper daemonization support.

Roadmap

The following is a list of development goals slated for incorporation into future releases of DistribuStream:

  • Improvements to the Transfer Manager
  • Move to a UDP version to improve latency and overhead
  • Use UTP for peer-to-peer file transfers
  • Adding encryption
